20+ years of bringing characters to life.
Madrid . Spain . international
HI, I'M JU.
My name is Juliana, but most people know me as Ju Tsukino.
I've been creating and living through cosplay since 2004.
What began as a hobby and a love for anime, manga and games gradually became a career that has taken me around the world — from Brazil to Europe, Japan, the United States and Latin America.
Today, I work across cosplay, costume design, gaming and live events, combining craftsmanship, character interpretation, performance and community interaction.
I don't simply recreate characters.
I bring them into the real world.

IT STARTED WITH A COSTUME
I discovered cosplay in 2004, when I was living in Brazil.
I was already an anime and manga fan, and my very first cosplay was Chii from Chobits — the character that started everything.
At first, I simply wanted to have fun.
But making the costume opened a completely different world for me.
I discovered that I loved the process just as much as wearing the finished character: choosing materials, figuring out how things were constructed, sewing, styling, experimenting and finding ways to make something that didn't exist in real life.
I started entering cosplay competitions in Brazil and gradually began receiving recognition for the quality and detail of my costumes.
Then the invitations started coming.
First to judge competitions and participate in events. Then to give talks and workshops, host stages and meet audiences.
And what started as a hobby slowly became a career.

THEN COSPLAY TOOK ME AROUND THE WORLD.
My first convention outside Brazil was TNT in Mexico in 2009.
It was the beginning of an international journey that would take me to conventions and events across Latin America, Europe, the United States and Japan.
Over the years, I've been invited to events in countries including:
Brazil · Mexico · Chile · Colombia · Austria · Germany · France · Poland · Spain · Japan · Italy · Portugal · United Kingdom · United States · Turkey · Bulgaria and more.
I've worked as a:
Guest · Cosplay Guest · Judge · Host · Stage Presenter · Panelist · Workshop Instructor
But one thing has remained constant throughout all those years:
THE PEOPLE!
For me, conventions have never been just about standing on a stage. I love meeting attendees, talking about costumes, playing games, taking photos, sharing experiences and seeing how excited people become when they meet a character they love.
MORE THAN WEARING THE CHARACTER.
I've always been fascinated by the process of creating a character from the ground up.
Over the years, costume construction became one of the strongest parts of my work.
Through JT Studio Atelier, I create bespoke costumes and character pieces for clients and artists around the world.
My work can involve:
Sewing
Pattern Making
Props & Armour
Wigs & Hair Styling
Makeup
Shoes & Accessories
Character Design & Interpretation
I've created 1,000+ costumes for clients and other artists, alongside the 200+ costumes I've created and worn myself throughout my cosplay career.
But numbers aren't really what define my work.
I'm obsessive about details.
I like finding ways to make a costume feel unique, considered and genuinely mine — including the little things that most people might never notice.

WHEN CHARACTERS BECOME REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES.
As my career developed, cosplay opened the door to working directly with gaming and entertainment brands.
I've worked on promotional campaigns, costume design, character activations, live events and community experiences, combining my skills as a costume artist with the ability to represent a character and interact with an audience.

“I don't just wear the character. I help create the experience around it.”
IT'S STILL ABOUT CREATING SOMETHING I LOVE.
After more than 20 years, I still don't choose a character simply because it's popular or trending.
I choose characters that inspire me.
I love the entire process — designing, sewing, styling, painting, solving problems and obsessing over tiny details.
And then comes the moment when everything finally comes together.
You put the costume on.
You become the character.
You meet someone who has loved that character for years.
And suddenly, something that existed only on a screen or on a page becomes real for a moment.
That's the magic that made me fall in love with cosplay in the first place.
